Here Comes the Sleep CD's
After pondering our options, asking lots of
questions, and flipping a coin I have decided to begin selling
audio CD's as well as instant downloads of our sleep onset products. The reason for this is two-fold as
we
also want to start a distribution company to get our sleep sounds
out into the brick and mortar world of retail sales. If I have
to put the infrastructure together for that I might as
well sell audio CD's on this site as well.
One of the biggest drawbacks of selling high
quality audio downloads via the Internet is the size of the
files. A sixty minute recording done in CD quality audio can be
upwards of 100 megabyte. While this is no problem for
those with high speed computer access it can present a problem
to individuals with bandwidth issues. Other sites squeeze the
file size down by recording at a lower KBS (kilobytes per
second) but then the quality of the sound is greatly
compromised. I will not do that.
As of today we sell not only downloads but
audio CD's as well. I have not included all the sounds in this
venture yet. None of the sounds in the
Specialty Vault are included
and some of the shorter dreamscapes are not included yet. (i.e.
Snowy Mountain Hike and
Jungle Canoe) but hopefully I
will figure out a way to get them on CD, also.
Selling and distributing audio CD's will be a
challenge but I am looking forward to it as I believe whole
heartedly in this new kind of sleep CD.
