A note on Walter Cronkite's
passing
One of my earliest memories
as a human was the Soupy Sales kid show I was watching
interrupted with breaking news, Kennedy had been shot. I saw, as
a 5 year old, the clip of Walter announcing Kennedy's death. Its
the same one we have all been seeing now for a few days. It did
not really register with me, but I saw it... live.
Walter
Cronkite holds a special place in my heart and, I am sure, in
millions of American's hearts. He walked us thru the Vietnam War
and the protests. He was there when man landed on the moon.
He was, without a doubt, the newsman of his time. I am
reminded that he also hosted a program called 'You Are There'.
Kind of funny that I now involve myself with placing listeners,
thru visualizing of
the recordings, 'there'. Not at the Alamo or the signing of the
constitution, but at a seaside resort or on a Jet heading to who
knows where while you get some sleep.
At 92 he lived a good long
noble life... and that's the way it was.
Talk at 'cha later!
